Pet Portraits & Pixel Quilt Supply List

We are just 6 weeks away from the Pet Portraits and Pixel Quilt Retreat! I am delighted that it is finally upon us, I have been looking forward to this one for months!

Pixel Quilt workshop supply list

The workshop participants sourcing their own fabrics will need the following Kona colors (or equivalents)

YARDAGE:

  • FAT QUARTER OF: BREEZE 22" X 9" OF COLORS: SILVER, PETAL, VALENTINE, CERISE, CANDY PINK, SASSY PINK

  • 7" X 7" SCRAP OF COLORS: THISTLE, FOXGLOVE, QUICKSILVER, CORSAGE, WOODROSE

  • 2" X 2" SCRAP OF COLORS: PRIMROSE

  • 5" X 5" SCRAP OF COLOR: MELON

    Helpful TIP: Because some of the shades are similar, it will be helpful to mark them up as: A - Silver, B - Petal, C - Thistle, D - Foxglove, E - Quicksilver, F - Primrose, G - Corsage, H - Breeze, I - Woodrose, J - Valentine, K - Cerise, L - Candy Pink, M - Sassy Pink, N - Melon

  • You will also need at least one square (8 pixels x 8 pixels) of 1.25" Quiltsmart Pix Grid Interfacing. Quilt smart is the only brand that makes the 1.25" pixel grid so other makers like Ten Sisters grid will not work. https://quiltsmart.com/pix-smart-grid-1-25-1-5-2-0-2-5-2-0-on-point-2-5-onpoint/ Make sure they choose: 1.25 straight in the size option and at least a panel size (which is the smallest option they can buy)

You can pick these fabrics up at your local quilt shop (she uses Kona Cotton) or you can grab them here in town - Missouri Star Quilt Co. carries their products.

OR you can purchase a quilt kit from Dee for just $30. If you would like to exercise that option, please email Dakota at hotelhamiltonretreats@gmail.com to ensure we have enough kits at retreat.

Dee has sent over this attachment, with all the needs to create the Cherry Blossom Pixel Quilt.

For Rochelle's class in Pet Portraits you will need the following...

Pet Portrait workshop supply list

HOMEWORK PRIOR TO CLASS

Print an 8x10 color photo of your pet. Crop your photo, trying to get as much of the face as you can. The higher quality and clearer the photo, the sharper your enlargement will be. It should cost you around $3.00

Print a black and white enlargement of your color photo to 200%. The enlargement should cost under $5.00 I go to FedEx and scan my photo on the self serve plotter and enlarge it to 200%.

Bring both the color and black and white enlargement to the workshop.

***If you want to exercise the option of making the Lion, rather than one of your pets - please email Dakota so we have the supplies necessary for you.

Supply list for pet portrait

A good selection of fabric scraps, keeping in mind the shades and tones of your pet photograph. This is where more fabric selection and choice are better. (Dakota will bring a large box of scraps to help with this too)

Light box (they can be shared) We know that many of you won’t already own a light box. Please do not purchase one specifically for the retreat. We will do our best to share the ones that come.

1/2 yard pattern ease tracing paper. (Dakota will have some for sale in the shop, if you don’t find it ahead of time)

Terial Magic, Best Press or Faultless

One gallon ziplock baggie

Aleene’s Tacky glue

Good scissors I like Karen Kay Buckley’s perfect scissors blue handle

Portable iron and mat (we have our big ones at retreat, but a portable may make your ups and downs fewer)

Chalk and other marking tools

Fine black sharpie

#2 pencil

If you'd like to print this list, you can do it from this attachment

Please reach out to Dakota if you have trouble sourcing any of your supplies OR if you have any questions. Thank you!
