TWO CLASSES (you get to do both!):
Class 1 Title: Pet Portrait Quilts with Rochelle Rice of the Inappropriate Quilters Have you ever wanted to turn your beloved pet into a one-of-a-kind quilted masterpiece? Join Rochelle Rice, co-host of the Inappropriate Quilters podcast and featured artist in Quiltfolk Magazine, for this fun and creative class on making Pet Portrait Quilts.
In this workshop, Rochelle will guide you step-by-step through the process of transforming a photo of your pet into a stunning fabric portrait. Students will learn how to:
• Select and prepare the perfect photo for their project
• Create a pattern from the image
• Choose fabrics that capture texture, color, and personality
• Bring their pet to life in quilted form through layering and stitching techniques
Prefer to go a little wild? Students can opt to create “Lance the Lion”, Rochelle’s whimsical animal portrait, and still learn all the same foundational techniques.
Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned quilter, you’ll leave class with the confidence and skills to create art quilts that capture the heart and spirit of your favorite furry (or not-so-furry) friends.
Skill Level: Confident beginner and above
What to Bring: A clear photo of your pet, fabric scraps, and a sense of humor!
Class 2 Title: Cherry Blossom Pixel Quilt with Dee Bushrod of Pixel Quilts.
In this workshop, you'll learn two methods for piecing pixel quilts: regular piecing and pixel grid interfacing. By the end of the session, you'll have tried both techniques and gained hands-on experience. You'll leave equipped to create your own pixel quilt and confident in choosing the piecing method that best suits your style! We will be creating a cherry blossom 9 block pattern which is from the full Cherry Blossom pixel quilt, (participants will receive the full cherry blossom pattern as a PDF)
Skill Level: Confident beginner and above
A supply list will be sent 90 days prior to retreat.
